Week 23 update
Week 23
850.3 total miles run (and he in not even at the half way point in his year long run).
$3078.09 raised in pennies per mile
Thank you all for your support :)
So sorry I have been absent from the blog...I retired and am busier than ever. Bob has continued to run with a sore foot. As we speak he is out running and will be at 850 miles to date. His goal for this journey was 1000 miles in 1 year. Well as you can see he will reach that goal very soon. Probably before he hits the 6 month mark. He will continue running. For those folks that pledged a penny (or more) per mile they will have the option to continue till the end or to opt out at 1000. We are truly hoping all will continue on. As the winter months approach you can guarantee that you will see Bob out running. He feels that our service men and women ran, walked, fought in much worse conditions, so it is the least he can do to run in cold and snow. Wishing you all a Happy November.

One reason I run
Below is a statement from WWP. This is one of many reason I am running. Please consider supporting me on my journey to help our wounded warriors. 100% of the money I raise in my year long run will go directly to WWP.
Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) is outraged that the continued gridlock and government shutdown is now threatening the disbursement of benefits payments to the brave men and women who served and sacrificed for this nation. WWP is committing $20 million to support registered Wounded Warrior Alumni should government checks not go out on or around November 1, 2013. If you are a registered Alumnus as of October 14, 2013, WWP is prepared to send you a $500 check if the government does not come to a resolution in time for the November payment. These funds are to assist with expenses during this payment gap, and WWP will not ask for reimbursement. While this action would not solve all financial hardship, we are committed to helping our warriors, especially in time of crisis.

Week 18:
699 miles (oh so close) run
$2425.53 raised in pennies per mile to date
We have had so many wonderful comments about this project. So many supporters and pledges. We truly feel blessed. Bob has gone through one pair of sneakers so far, he recently had a donation just to help him pay for a new pair. When we first began this journey we were hoping to raise $1000.00. With your support as you can see the total is way beyond that and we are only 18 weeks in. Bob had originally hoped to run 1000 miles. Now that has changed and he is looking at 1800. Today he ran in Utica for a change. A pretty fall day for his run. In two weeks we are headed to Albany for the Mohawk Hudson Half Marathon.
Thank you for your support.

Chilly Morning Runs
It is starting to get cold. The temperature was 44 degrees at morning running time today. Bob had to wear a jacket twice this week. I don't want to tell him but pretty soon he will have to put his shorts away and get out his insulated gear. We received a new pledge this week. It is wonderful to have support from not only family and local friends but from strangers and friends from all over the country.

This is my personal project to raise money for the wounded Warrior Project. I am logging miles that I run from Memorial Day 2013 to Memorial Day 2014. Anyone can pledge pennies per mile or a flat donation to the cause. I plan on running 1500 miles in the year. So a 2 cent pledge would be a $30.00 donation. Please consider supporting me today.
Thank you

What a difference a week can make. Last Wednesday Bob did not run because of the high heat and humidity. Today he might need to wear long pants!
We had several generous donations/pledges this week. The support for this project has been wonderful. Below is a note from Bob about his journey:
We had several generous donations/pledges this week. The support for this project has been wonderful. Below is a note from Bob about his journey:
It began on Memorial Day 2013 and
will continue until Memorial Day, 2014.
During that time I will be running several times a week and keeping
track of the miles that I run. At
the same time I am seeking pledges for my running either in the form of pennies per mile (1, 2, 3 etc.) for each
mile that I run, or a straight donation..
Barring injury, I hope to run between 1200 and 1500 miles during the
year- long project.
My reason for doing this is quite
simple. Right after 9/11, many
brave young Americans stood up and said they would do what they could to
prevent another devastating assault on our country. Many of them have paid a terrible price for doing so. The Wounded Warrior Project is doing a
wonderful job of meeting the complex needs of critically wounded soldiers and
preparing them to re-enter society as well-adjusted and productive
civilians. I, as a veteran,
applaud their efforts, and I feel
it is time for the rest of us to stand up in support of our brave warriors. We can do this by supporting the
Wounded Warrior Project.
As of Memorial Day 2014, I will
notify those who pledged, what they owe and ask them to make out a check to the
Wounded Warrior Project, and send it to me. I will collect the checks and forward them to the Wounded
Warrior Project in Washington D.C.

Week 8 update
At the end of 8 weeks, I have run 341 miles and raised &1098.00 for The Wounded Warrior Project. A big thank you to everyone that has pledged so far. Remember you can still pledge anytime from now until Memorial day 2014 when I finish this journey. Every penny pledged will amount to a donation of $10.00-$15.00. After Memorial Day '14 I will contact you so that you can send me your donation. All monies raised will be donated to The Wounded Warrior Project. Please tell your friends.
Sunday Run
Running times have been few and far between this week with the heat and having Sarah home. Bob is off this cool Sunday morning for a good long run. We will post this weeks info tomorrow.
Sarah was home for almost two weeks helping out in Fort Plain and the Herkimer area with flood relief. She is headed back to NYC today. Even though we didn't see much of her it was great to have her home.
Have a great day everyone.

July 10th
I have two runs in this week already. I will be slowing it down due to the Boilermaker this weekend. The humidity has made running a challenge but that is ok. Today I am off with my daughter who is up from NYC trying to find places for a group of volunteers wanting to come up to help with flood relief. Have a great day everyone.

Saturday
This morning is sunny and humid. Last night we had rain- again. We live at the base of a hill and with all the rain lately in our area we have water in our basement. We are lucky though some of our neighbors and many towns and villages near us have been hit hard by all this rain. I am off for a run have a great Saturday.

Independence Day
I am a little over a month into my year long run. The weather in Upstate New York has sometimes made running not so easy. Today I went out about 7pm and shortly after I headed out it began to thunder and pour. I don't mind running in the rain, especially during the summer. This photo was from a run in Utica last night. It was a hot and humid evening. Happy 4th of July everyone.
